• Non-Fiction, paired reading: "Don't Touch the Water"  and The Boston Molasses Flood" Scope magazine
  
• Questions relating to selection
• Critical reading skills on literary device, structure, mood and tone, inference, author's craftte
• Shark Writing - finish - interpret the quote and use text evidence to support your answer (see handout) 
• Disaster writing: Compare and contrast the disasters in Boston and West Virginia. How are they similar and different? What lessons can be learned from them? Respond in three paragraphs using text evidence to support your answer.  

Poetry 

Poetry Month - Poem in Your Pocket
You receive a packet of 13 poems. You are to take the poems apart - cut them up and read them.  Carry one in your pocket each day of the month. Read it to the class and to a friend in the lunchroom.  Copy favorites to your warm-up.
